Ridgecrest's Biggest Baby Shower Ever

It was a baby shower extravaganza with games, food and gifts galore. Over 30 pregnant women and their friends and family participated in the Drummond Medical Group baby shower that was held Saturday, June 17th.

The expectant mothers were showered with needed gifts for herself and baby. Each woman received a gift bag full of formula, diapers, lotion samples, coupons, magazines and lots of other literature on motherhood and raising a happy healthy baby. In addition to gift bags many local businesses donated gifts for the parent’s-to-be. Other businesses support the event through financial donations to help out with food.

The speaker for the day was California Highway Patrol officer Jamie Orlett who gave a short presentation on car seat safety. The women were thrilled to learn more about the importance of making sure that their child’s car seat is correctly installed and the resources provided to them to make this possible. Jamie also donated a car seat that was raffled off to one lucky mom-to-be.

Drummond has been hosting baby showers every other month since February of 2005. The expectant mothers are patients of Drummond’s OB/GYNS Dr. Jensen and Dr. Karoll. There have been over 400 women who have been invited to the baby showers since they started. Drummonds next baby shower will be held on August 19th for moms due in September and November.

“This is such an exciting time for these new mothers. It is so nice to be able to give these women a special day to be pampered and showered with gifts,” said Emily Riley, Community Relations Director at Drummond Medical Group. “We hope that each of the women will go away with at least one gift for their new babies.”
