About DMG
History
Dr. Thomas A. Drummond originally opened a practice in Red Mountain. He enjoyed the challenge of the desert and the wide open spaces to pursue his love of flying.
After a fire destroyed his office in Red Mountain, he settled in Ridgecrest and started a practice in 1945. He attracted other practitioners to the area and built a small hospital.Around 1957, a physician clinic building known as Drummond Medical Center was built adjoining what was then the hospital at that time.
In the late 1950’s, he offered the physicians a partnership, and the building became the property of Drummond Medical Group. The Group donated their respective shares of the hospital to the community and became a separate entity. Several additions onto the original building have taken place over the years adding a laboratory, radiology, an Urgent Care Center as well as more offices to serve the medical needs of the growing Indian Wells Valley. In 1992, Drummond Medical Group added on yet another wing to house Ophthalmology, Primary Care and an outpatient surgery center which opened in 1997.
Drummond Medical Group has always tried to meet the increasing medical needs of the community by bringing in specialists and providing the best healthcare to the citizens of Ridgecrest and surrounding communities, just as Dr. Drummond envisioned many years ago.
